TAIYUAN - Thirty-six survivors of a fatal plane crash in San Francisco returned to their hometown in North China's Shanxi province on Wednesday, school sources said Friday.

The returnees include five teachers and 30 students from Taiyuan No 5 Middle School and Taiyuan Foreign Language School, who had finished a scheduled study tour in the United States.

Another teacher who is still under treatment in the United States is expected to return on July 30, said Xi Tieshan, a teacher of the Taiyuan No 5 Middle School.

Four teachers and 30 students from East China's Zhejiang province were also onboard when Asiana Airlines Flight 214 bound for San Francisco from Seoul made a crash landing at San Francisco International Airport on July 6.

Three female Chinese students died in the incident, with one of them reportedly being run over by an ambulance that was coming to the passengers' aid.
