URUMQI - Five people were killed in a road accident on Saturday in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, local authorities said.
An SUV crashed into a car at 12:27 am on a section of a provincial highway, trapping seven passengers in the car.
Five people trapped in the car died at the scene, while the other two were injured and have been sent to a hospital for treatment.
An investigation into the accident is under way.
