Suspect caught after construction site thefts

A suspect in a string of thefts from a number of downtown construction sites was caught by Shanghai police, Shanghai Television reported on Monday.
Video surveillance showed the suspect, wearing a sun hat and knee pad, on a construction site at about 3 am, video surveillance showed. He left with stolen goods after about 40 minutes.
Police noticed similarities to another case that happened about a month ago.
Police apprehended the suspect, surnamed Xu, together with 21 laptops, three cellphones and a number of other electronic devices. All had been stolen from Shanghai building sites.
Some construction sites have installed surveillance cameras and hired security guards, but watchmen were sometimes lax, police said.
