The 1,700-year-old Lingyin temple in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province is inviting university students to a three-day summer camp to study Zen (a school of Buddhism).
The temple will recruit 30 students to learn etiquette, practice a daily routine of chanting sutras and pray to the Buddha from Aug 3 to 5, according to a notice released by the temple.
The camp is free and provides board and lodging.
Application forms can be downloaded from http://www.lingyinsi.org and sent to lingyintemple@163.com. The deadline is July 26.
Last month, the Ci'en Temple in Zhejiang's Tiantai Mountain invited both religious and secular men and women to live there for up to two years, generating enormous public interest.
"Our summer camp is different from that one. We will focus on advocating virtues in traditional Chinese culture, such as filial piety. We think it is important for young people to get right moral values," said a monk from the temple who asked not to be named.
