Residents can register to recycle electrical appliances at Shanghai convenience stores, according to the Shanghai Morning Post.

Shanghai residents can skip the long process of waiting for a peddler's on-site service and instead book at more than 600 convenience stores such as Family Mart, Lawson and 7-11 across the city that provide such services.

The e-waste recycling terminal is called “Alading”, which means “we book” in the Shanghai dialect. The process takes only a minute and staff from a recycling company are expected to contact the customer within 24 hours, said an employee from the Shanghai Senlan Environmental Resources Co, the company responsible the service.

An average of more than 1,000 appointments is made every month and televisions and computers are the most common e-waste.

To ensure all the operations are standardized, the whole process is monitored by GPS and the price is unified as well.
