Two men drifted for 15 hours on a handmade raft before they were rescued at sea near the Putuo Mountain waters in Zhoushan, Zhejiang province, Qianjiang Evening News reported on Monday.
The two tourists from Sichuan province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, who are in their 20s, made a raft using materials such as wood, foam and plastic they found on a beach near the waters.
After about two or three hours at sea, they realized they were too far away from the beach and high winds prevented them from returning to shore.
At 11:30 pm on Thursday, they called the Maritime Search and Rescue Center in Zhoushan, and were found around 1:10 pm the next day by a passing ship.
