About 230,000 irregularities in production were found one month after China's work safety watchdog launched a nationwide campaign in June, China National Radio reported on Thursday.

In some cases, potential safety risks similar to what caused the deaths of 121 workers in a factory blaze - a liquid ammonia leak - in Jilin province still existed, Huang Yi, spokesman for the State Administration of Work Safety, told CNR.

“Pipelines in some dangerous chemical producers were found broken, and the valves of some tanks cannot be not be opened,” Huang said, adding that undercover safety inspections will be carried out in the future.

The administration sent 13 inspection teams to check places prone to safety risks, such as coal mines and densely populated factories, according to the report.
