A 20-year-old woman killed herself after failing the college entrance examination for the second time, China Youth Daily reported on Wednesday.
Yang Yuan cut her left wrist with a fruit knife at her home in Chongzhou, Sichuan province, on June 22 after learning the exam result. She left a note that apologized to her parents.
Her father, a migrant worker in Lhasa, capital of the Tibet autonomous region, was waiting for his daughter to call him that day to tell him the exam result, but instead he received a call from his wife, who told him that their daughter was dead.
