Court releases verdict on official's rape case

The Supreme People's Court released on Wednesday the verdict document of a death penalty review case for a former official who raped 10 underage girls.
Li Xingong, former deputy secretary-general of the Yongcheng Party committee in Henan province, was executed on June 18. According to the verdict document, he raped 10 underage girls 14 times, including eight girls aged under 14. He also molested a girl under 14.
The Shangqiu Intermediate People's Court sentenced Li to death. Li appealed but this was rejected by Henan Provincial High People's Court. The Supreme People's Court approved the execution after it reviewed the sentence.
