Sound may be registered as a trademark in China, a draft amendment has proposed.
Businesses will be able to use a specific sound as their trademark, or part of their trademark, under the draft amendment to the Trademark Law submitted to the National People's Congress Standing Committee.
Sound has been associated with some global companies. The lion's roar, often played before a Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, is a well-known trademark.
