5.5 million more males than females in Guangdong

There are 5.56 million more males than females in Guangdong province, official statistics revealed.
According to the Analysis on the Population Development in Guangdong Province, the province's population was 105.94 million at the end of 2012, including 55.75 million men and 50.19 million women.
The gender gap is 100 women to 111.06 men and the population density is 589 people for every square kilometer, said the Analysis on the Population Development in Guangdong Province which was published in the Guangzhou-based Southern Metropolis Daily on Wednesday.
Meanwhile more than 1.224 million babies were born in Guangdong last year. The birth rate hit 11.6 per thousand.
