Company credit records and subway passengers who use the service without paying, will be some of those tracked on the Shanghai public credit information service platform which started a trial run in government departments on Monday, the Oriental Morning Post reported.
A total of 50 government departments have promised to provide information to the platform.
The platform will be open for inquiries by the end of this year but will officially start operations in April next year.
To protect commercial secrets and individual privacy, members of the public can only track their own credit information but not information on other people.
Should there be any dispute over the information on offer, an application for a double check can be submitted.
