BEIJING - Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Margaret Ashton on Saturday.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said China and Europe are both at a key stage of development, adding that both sides need to promote their cooperation amid China's urbanization and Europe's economic revival.
China is willing to work with Europe to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership, bring benefits to both sides and make contributions to world peace and prosperity, Yu said.
Yu said China will continue to support the EU's integration process, as well as its efforts to deal with sovereign debt problems.
Ashton said China is a good partner for the EU during its economic revival, adding that the EU is willing to further enhance ties with China.
