MOSCOW - Visiting Chinese State Councilor Guo Shengkun met with Russian officials here from Thursday to Saturday, with both sides pledging to promote bilateral security cooperation.

During his three-day visit here, Guo met Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev as well as other security officials.

To carry out the consensus reached between leaders of the two countries, China and Russia should further enhance their law enforcement cooperation in security and better coordinate efforts made by the law enforcement sectors of the two countries, Guo said.

Meanwhile, the two partners should deepen cooperation in the fields of anti-terrorism, narcotics control, fighting cross-border crimes and cyber crimes, Guo said, adding they also need to strengthen security ties within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization framework, so as to facilitate the China-Russia comprehensive relations of strategic cooperation and partnership.

Patrushev, for his part, expressed his willingness to facilitate mechanisms for cooperation in law enforcement and security between the two countries, so as to make bilateral security ties closer and yield fruitful results, he said.

Guo visited Russia from Thursday to Saturday at the invitation of Patrushev. He also met with officials from the Russian Interior Ministry, the Federal Security Service, the Prosecutor's office, the Investigative Committee and other security organs.
