A truck driver had a lucky escape when the road he was traveling on disappeared as a disused mine caved in, Huashang Daily reported on Friday.
The truck driver from Jilin province in Northeast China felt something like an earthquake on Thursday morning as he was driving his coal-laden truck in Shenmu county, Yulin, Shaanxi province in Northwest China.
“I felt something under my truck and I thought it was an earthquake. I got out and saw that the road in front had collapsed,” the driver surnamed Wang said.
A 500-meter section of the road subsided with the biggest hole about two meters deep. Fortunately, there were no injuries.
