Police in the Chenghai district of Shantou, Guangdong province, say they have seized nearly 100,000 imitation guns and arrested 45 suspects so far this month.
It is the largest amount of imitation weapons local police have had to deal with. The guns were destroyed on Wednesday.
Authorities in the district have vowed to crack down further on the production of counterfeit weapons.
Chenghai district is an important manufacturing base for toys.
