Anti-pornography departments and public security sectors cracked down on 198 websites publishing pornographic information in a 20-day special campaign, according to the National Anti–Pornography Office on April 17.
Since March 28, 198 websites in 20 provinces and regions, including Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Shanghai and Fujian, have been investigated for publishing pornography.
Of those, 21 unregistered websites were closed, and 175 websites were ordered to immediately delete the pornography information.
Meanwhile, the public security departments placed the cases on file and punished people at two other websites for illegally operating a business.
The National Anti-Pornography Office said on April 17 that they will continue to clear up pornographic information on websites.
