The director and deputy director of Tieling Prison in Liaoning province, suspected of being involved in trading methamphetamine, have been removed from posts, prison officials said on Wednesday.
The prison authorities said the pair neglected their duties in a drug-related case that was cracked at the prison.
Yu Guoqiang has been appointed the new director of the prison. He was serving as a senior officer in the supervision department under the Liaoning Provincial Bureau of Prisons, according to Tieling prison.
In January, Liaoning judicial authorities uncovered a drug-related case in which inmates who had been released colluded with prisoners at the jail to traffic methamphetamine. The authorities seized 2.23 grams of drugs, Xinhua news agency reported.
Five inmates involved have been isolated for investigation, the report said.
