Organizers said this year's adult exhibition will be "sexy but not inappropriate," as the annual China International Adult Toys & Reproductive Health Exhibition kicked off on April 12, the Shanghai Evening Post reported.
Organized by the Shanghai Family Planning Products Service Association and CIEC Overseas Exhibition Co Ltd, the Shanghai exhibition has become the third-largest adult-related trade show in the world in terms of the number of items displayed.
Organizers estimated that more than 15,000 people will visit the three-day expo, and more than 2,000 professional visitors will attend the event to seek business opportunities.
As in previous exhibitions, female actresses and models will be part of this trade show. Some traders have invited world-famous actresses and models from Japan and the United States to attend the exhibition. The organizers revealed that one of them, from Japan, has more than 400,000 fans on a micro blog in China.
Organizers have asked traders to have a sense of propriety and obey the law during the show period.
Liu Dalin, a professor in social science studies from Shanghai University, was quoted by local media as saying that the show might help change people's attitudes toward adult-related topics.
