A group of Chinese tourists was robbed in Paris on Thursday, less than two hours after arriving.
Two of the tourists in the group of more than 20 from Wuxi in Jiangsu province, and their tour guide, had their purses snatched by a group of people at around 7:30 pm after they left a Chinese restaurant near Charles de Gaulle airport, according to the Modern Express newspaper.
The tour guide was also beaten by the robbers and slightly injured, while the tourists’ passports were snatched, the report said.
The tourists have registered with the Chinese Embassy for temporary passports, and have reported the case to police.
Their travel agency, based in Nanjing, is also in contact with the group to ensure the rest of their trip goes smoothly.
A staff member from the agency suggested that Chinese tourists keep a low profile while traveling abroad.
