A Beijing court on Wednesday tried a housewife accused of using a false identity to scam young soldiers out of money and gifts.
Prosecutors in Fangshan district said the defendant, 42, posed as a 24-year-old to lure her victims, The Mirror newspaper reported.
Although married with a daughter, the woman made contact with a man surnamed Jiang using smartphone software in July. She went on to defraud him of more than 15,000 yuan ($2,415) and a laptop, the court said.
She then conned another two men out of about 2,900 yuan and cellphone recharge cards between September and October, the court heard.
The defendant was sent to court after one of the men became suspicious and called police.
A verdict is pending.
