Shanghai will set up another 150 free Wi-Fi hotspots in 2013, bringing the total number to 450.
The project — part of efforts to build Shanghai into a "wireless city" — was launched late last year.
The wireless network mainly covers densely populated areas, such as shopping areas, parks and tourist sites, as well as major hospitals and business areas.
People can access free Wi-Fi services for two hours a day.
A list of hotspots is available on the city government's website.
