The Chinese Center For Disease Control And Prevention plans to spend up to 60 million yuan ($9.64 million) in the next three years on health research in the country's top 10 air polluted cities, Beijing Times reported Monday.

Wang Yu, chief of CDC and member of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) said, "Staff members from CDC will carry out research on patients in 10 most PM2.5 polluted cities, collecting environmental and meteorological data, and conducting a period of monitor. In addition, fundamental research will be made after scientific research and analysis."

"Research will consist of monitoring indoor PM2.5 air pollution, exposure levels, and then scientific data of how of PM2.5 affects people's health will be obtained.

"A health warning platform will be established based on the data. It can tell people the pollution level, and how to calculate the time people can be exposed to PM2.5 for their health.

"When PM2.5 air pollution is severe, there will be warning and suggestion on reducing pollution emissions. For instance, citizens should lower the heating system temperature to avoid heavy pollution," Wang said.
