China's first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, anchored for the first time at a military port in Qingdao on Wednesday morning.
A statement from the PLA navy said the carrier left a wharf in Dalian on Tuesday for Qingdao in East China's Shandong province.
Tests and exercises will be carried out on the carrier at a bay built by the navy four years ago, the statement said.
After delivery to the navy on Sept 25, the Liaoning underwent a series of sailing and technological tests, including the successful landing of a J-15 jet fighter on the vessel.
