A 70-year-old hang glider went missing after he fell into a lake in Sichuan province on Feb 24. After two days of rescue efforts, rescuers said he was still not found.
Yi Ruilong, a well-known hang glider from Liaoning province had made a trial flight above Hanyuan Lake in Hanyuan county, Huaxi Metropolis Daily reported on Feb 26.
But he fell into the lake at 6 pm. After receiving reports from witnesses, a rescue team was sent to the site to find the man, the report said.
So far, rescuers have only found a helmet.
The local government decided to send a team of divers to the lake for further rescue efforts, the report said.
An avid hang glider, Yi has flown over many mountains and lakes across China. His achievements earned him the name "No 1 glider in China".
In 2009, his stunt across the Huashan Mountain in Huayin, Shaanxi province, covering 7 km lasted 15 minutes.
