Two officials in Zhenba county, Shaanxi province in Northwest China were warned about traveling during work days, Xi'an Evening News reported on Monday.
An online post revealed recently that the staff of the county's water conservancy bureau went to Hainan province to travel from Jan 2 to 7 when they should have been working.
Investigations by the county's Party discipline inspection commission showed that 27 staff members in the bureau took part in the trip.
Though they proved that they paid for their own travel expenses, the discipline watchdog believed that it was wrong to organize a group trip that caused the bureau not to function on work days.
Bureau director Liu Wenxiang was criticized for failing his duty of staff management, and He Jinglin, deputy director, for taking part in the travel.
