BEIJING - China's top legislature will review a report on the qualifications of deputies to the first annual session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), during a bimonthly session next week.
The NPC Standing Committee will convene its bimonthly session from February 25 to 27 in Beijing, according to a decision made at Monday's meeting of the chairman and vice chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee. The meeting was presided over by NPC Standing Committee Chairman Wu Bangguo.
During the bimonthly session, lawmakers will review reports on the work of the NPC Standing Committee, the election of national deputies, a draft schedule and name list of the presidium, among a slew of preparations for the upcoming NPC annual session.
Lawmakers will also review a report on Wu's attending of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum and his state visit to Mongolia, and discuss cases of appointments and dismissals.
The first annual session of the 12th NPC will kick off on March 5.
