China saw 87 M&A deals in January

A total of 87 Chinese mergers and acquisitions were concluded in January with the total value of 80 disclosed deals reaching $2.89 billion, Zero2IPO Research Center said in a recent report.
The amount of M&A deals in January declined 40.4 percent from the previous month, while the value dropped 51.6 percent.
A total of 80 M&A deals took place in the domestic market with the value of 75 disclosed deals at $2.53 billion, which accounted for 87.6 percent of the total value in January. Five deals were concluded by Chinese companies in overseas markets with the value of three disclosed deals at $342 million. Two deals, worth $19 million, were made by foreign companies in the domestic market.
The machinery manufacturing industry saw the largest number of M&A deals, while the Internet sector accounted for the highest value of deals.
