The Luohu District Consumer Council released on Tuesday the results of an inspection on children's products randomly tested in stores and markets in Shenzhen's Luohu district.
Only three batches out of 15 batches of children's shoes inspected, which were produced by 10 companies, met standards, making the acceptance rate only 20 percent.
According to Yang Jianchang, the council's director, the main problems were that the product information was not clear, and that some materials used in the shoes were sub-standard, which will lead to deformation and lack of stability.
Inspected toys had an acceptance rate of 80 percent with problems found in five out of 25 batches inspected. The main problems with the toys were pointy ends and small parts that may be swallowed by accident.
The nine batches of baby carriers inspected met the standards.
