Exhibiting space will be increased in the Palace Museum and more buildings in the Forbidden City will be opened for this purpose.
The museum will open its Goose Wing Buildings on both sides of the Meridian Gate as exhibiting space.
A major exhibition in 2015 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Forbidden City's transformation into the Palace Museum in 1925 will take place in the buildings.
Several buildings will have their function changed. The Southeast Turret will house architecture antiques. The Imperial Kitchen will become an ancient furniture exhibition hall. The Palace of Peace and Longevity will be converted into the hall of drum-shaped stone blocks. The Hall of Consolation of Mothers will become the hall of sculpture.
