Shanghai publicized an action plan on Wednesday to improve local residents' livelihood.

According to a statement from the government's information office, the plan includes a move to build up food supply traceability systems covering the metropolitan area.

The traceability system will cover five wholesale markets, five food processors, 10 distribution centers, 200 supermarkets and 600 standardized food markets across the city, the statement said.

Another traceability system for aquatic products will cover 20 distribution centers, 200 supermarkets and 470 standardized food markets in the city.

The government promised to provide free WiFi service in 450 public places, where residents can surf online for two hours.

The city will also add 60 fitness trails in parks and public fields, and improve gym facilities in 20 community centers.
