A six-part documentary on the development of China's State-owned enterprises starting airing on Monday evening on China Central Television's channel.

The series is the first to give a comprehensive account of the growth of the SOEs against the background of the Chinese and global economies.

Over six months, the production team traveled more than 17,000 kilometers through China to record 450 hours of in-depth interviews, Jiang Shiming, the producer, said.

The series, which takes the form of stories, will also disclose major events and figures related to the reform and development of the companies, according to the producers.

"The development of State-owned enterprises in China is closely related to the country's development, something unique to China," Li Yang, chief director of the documentary, said on Monday. "We hope the documentary will present a new angle to viewers on the topic."

At a financial forum hosted by CCTV on Dec 12, a ceremony promoting the documentary was attended by Huang Danhua, vice-minister of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and CCTV Vice-President Wei Dichun.
