Political advisers in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, called for the legislature to focus on innovation, reform and other sectors that need legislation in social and economic development.
It is part of a proposal submitted by political advisers attending a conference of the fifth session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Shenzhen committee.
The proposal said that lawyers, industry association representatives and the public should be included more often in the lawmaking process, such as hearings, before a law is adopted.
It also suggested that more Hong Kong and foreign law firms should be brought to Qianhai, a pilot reform zone in Shenzhen that focuses on closer cooperation with Hong Kong in finance, IT and logistics, to enhance the global competitiveness of Shenzhen’s legal industry.
The fourth conference of the fifth session of CPPCC Shenzhen Committee is being held from Sunday to Wednesday.
A total of 517 members from the Party, the non-Communist parties, federations of industry and commerce, and people without party affiliation discuss Shenzhen affairs in the economy, environment, food safety, legislation and cultural development.
