BISHKEK - Chinese workers and local residents in southern Kyrgyzstan were reconciled Friday following a clash three days ago.
According to the press service of the regional administration in Osh, the reconciliation were achieved at a meeting attended by the governor of the Osh region, village elders, and representatives from the Chinese Consulate in Osh and the Chinese TBEA company, the employer of the workers.
The parties at the meeting agreed that the incident should not affect friendly China-Kyrgyzstan ties and their cooperation will continue.
At least 18 Chinese workers were injured Tuesday in a conflict with local residents in Kurshab village of Uzgen city of Osh state after they caught a villager who was allegedly stealing. The villager and his relatives, who were called to the company, quarrelled and clashed with the Chinese workers.
More than 100 people joined the fight, in which several policemen and villagers were also injured.
The TBEA, a Chinese power transmission and transformation company, is building power facilities in southern Kyrgyzstan.
