A resident of Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi province, took free photos of 580 families in the past five years, the Huashang Daily reported on Friday.
Xing Jianmin, 65, found his new hobby after he retired in 2007.
He got the idea by looking at two old family photos. The first one was taken in 1957 when he was 10, and the other in 1967 when he left home to serve in the army.
“It’s a great joy for a family to take a family photo, but some people can’t afford it. So I decided to take the photos for free,” Xing said.
For five years, Xing has taken about 15,000 photos for 580 families in nine provinces and cities. He traveled more than 70,000 kilometers for the photo-shooting sessions.
