Five people were injured in an underwear factory fire in Chaonan district of Shantou, Guangdong province, on Wednesday afternoon, local government sources said.
The blaze is the second factory fire in the township of Chendian of Chaonan within a month.
On Dec 4, a fire in a similar factory killed 14 workers, all younger than 20, and seriously injured one.
The fire broke out around 3:30 pm on Wednesday in two five-story buildings in Yanglao village of Chendian, a statement from the Chaonan district government said.
The five people who were injured were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition, the statement said.
Chaonan is one of the major underwear manufacturing bases in Guangdong.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way, the statement said.
