BEIJING - The first officially revised collection on acupuncture therapy was issued on Sunday after seven years of efforts.
The 30-volume "China Acupuncture Treasury" contains 97 ancient records on acupuncture, of which 48 were recently discovered.
Published by Beijing Science and Technology Press, the collection features modern clinical medicine annotations to complement the ancient documents, including overviews, clinical applications and references.
Renowned acupuncture specialist Professor He Puren is chief editor of the collection. Its editorial board consists of a wide variety of experts on traditional Chinese medicine, as well as clinical acupuncture experts.
Acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese medicine therapy. It involves insertion of fine metallic needles on the body to relieve pain and cure diseases.
