31b yuan earmarked for Urumqi's urban rail project

About 31 billion yuan ($4.95 billion) will be invested in Urumqi's urban rail project in the next few years, the People's Daily reported on Tuesday.
According to a plan recently approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planner, two urban rail lines with a total length of 48 kilometers and an investment of 31.2 billion yuan will be completed by 2019 in Urumqi, the capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
Once completed, the Urumqi urban rail network will have seven lines with a total length of 212 kilometers, the report said.
