Hundreds of famous names from television, film and radio have joined a growing chorus of people showing support for China over the Diaoyu Islands dispute.
Some 260 actors from the China Radio and Television Association published a statement on Monday voicing their support for the Chinese government's actions on the issue.
The statement said Chinese actors resolutely uphold and support any of the Chinese government's necessary and righteous actions on safeguarding territorial integrity. It also voiced strong indignation and severe condemnation towards Japan's "purchase" of the Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated islets.
The statement was issued on behalf of numerous famous performers including Tang Guoqiang, Faye Wong, Jay-Chou and Chow Yun-fat.
