BEIJING - A 3.7-magnitude aftershock that occurred in Southwest China's Yunnan province Saturday evening killed one person, the latest victim following multiple earthquakes that hit a mountainous area in the province on Sept 7.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs said Sunday that the quakes have killed 81 people in the city of Zhaotong.
The latest victim was a two-year-old child who was fatally injured after being buried under a fallen bounding wall when the aftershock struck.
Yunnan has received 59.4 million yuan ($9.43 million) quake relief funds thus far, the ministry said.
