BEIJING - Chinese President Hu Jintao on Tuesday afternoon held a welcoming ceremony for visiting Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi at the Great Hall of the People.
After the ceremony, the two presidents will hold hour-long talks on bilateral relations and issues of common concern.
Economic and trade cooperation and issues of common concern including the Syria issue are believed to be on top of the agenda of Morsi's China visit, the first one since he took office in June.
During Morsi's stay in Beijing from August 28 to 30, other Chinese leaders including top legislator Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao and Vice President Xi Jinping will also meet Morsi.
Morsi arrived in China on Tuesday afternoon. After his visit, Morsi will fly to Teheran.
