Ten fishermen from a stranded Vietnamese boat were rescued by a Chinese marine rescue team Thursday night, chinanews.cn reported.

The fishermen called on the local marine rescue service after their vessel engine broke down on the waters near Sansha city, on Thursday morning. All of them were transferred to the city by evening by a large rescue ship sent by the South Sea Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation.

On July 24, China established the city of Sansha on Yongxing Island in the southernmost province of Hainan, and a military garrison was also established there the same day.
