Days after a professor at Xiamen University was accused online for having a fake doctor's degree, the university has replied by saying "the degree was forged", Ximen Daily reported on July 26.

Fu Jin, a professor from the medical school at Xiamen University, was accused by fraud fighter Fang Zhouzi days ago, saying that her doctor's degree of Columbia University was forged.

Xiamen University told Xiamen Daily on July 25 that the accusations were in fact true. The university has now fired her and have asked her to apologize to the university and society through public channels.

Fu Jin has acknowledged that her degree was forged.

The university also acknowledged their negligence in identifying the degree.
