The Gansu provincial government has pulled back from a plan requiring food workshops to get an extra permit from the local quality and technical supervisory department, Worker's Daily reported on Monday.

The Gansu Provincial Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision had stipulated on April 1 that those wanting to make and sell steamed bread and fritters should get permission and licenses from the bureau, which prompted claims from people that its was abusing its power.

The legislative affairs office of the provincial government reviewed the case on June 18 after receiving complaints from local people and decided that the practice had no legal basis and must be stopped within 30 days.
