KUNMING - Most victims of an earthquake in a mountainous area of Southwest China on Sunday have received proper treatment and provisions, said local authorities on Tuesday.

Relief funds and goods have been rushed to the quake-affected region and allotted to victims. And the injured have been sent to local hospitals, according to the relief headquarters on quake sites in Yunnan and Sichuan provinces.

The magnitude-5.7 quake, which struck the border of Yunnan and Sichuan at 3:59 pm, killed three people in Ninglang county of Yunnan and another person in Sichuan's Yanyuan county.

As of 10 pm Tuesday, 4,000 tents, 5,000 quilts and 5,000 items of clothing have been sent to the quake-hit region and most of them have been allotted to local residents.

According to preliminary investigation, the quake caused 22,950 houses in Ninglang to collapse or be seriously damaged.

Among the 60,000 victims of the natural disaster, nearly 22,000 have needed to be relocated, said quake relief headquarters in Ninglang.

The 118 injured, who have been sent to local hospitals, were in stable conditions, said the headquarters.

Each of the residents affected by the quake have received 10 yuan per day as a subsidy.
