A flood prevention drill was staged on June 26 in Beijing to enhance the capital city's capability of dealing with emergencies at metro construction sites.
The drill, organized by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, started at 2 pm and was staged at a construction site of Beijing's Metro Line 15.
During the 25-minute drill, participants were asked to practice emergency management skills and medical aid techniques.
About 100 people took part in the operation.
The drill, which simulated real-life situations, was a success, said Zhao Hong, the general director of the Security and Quality Department under the Beijing Major Projects Construction Headquarters Office.
The city has set up 201 emergency brigades with 3,170 people to cope with incidents during flood season.
The relevant equipment - such as water pumps, electric generators and transport vehicles - has been prepared for emergency operations.
Although the training of rescue teams has been carried out, complete plans for emergency management are still needed, said Zhu Heping, vice-director of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
A better emergency management mechanism will be established soon, while the formulation of supervision rules is also under way.
