Guangdong executives get highest salaries

Executives of public companies in Guangdong province get the highest salaries in China, according to a Deloitte report on executives' compensation in Chinese companies between 2011 and 2012.

The report, completed before the end of April and conducted among 2,348 A-share listed companies, found that the payment of executives in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong is higher than the national average.

Guangdong's salaries are the highest with an average of about 1.07 million yuan ($168,780) annually in 2011, about double the national average. The figures in Beijing and Shanghai are 913,600 yuan and 802,200 yuan.

The national average salary of top executives was 712,900 yuan in 2011, with the average number in South China reaching 872,000 yuan, in North China 783,400 yuan and in East China 689,300 yuan. The average payment of top executives in Northwest China is the lowest at about 515,700 yuan per year.

The average annual payment of top executives of securities companies was 4.14 million yuan in 2011, up 32 percent from 2010.
