A teenager suspected of robbery has been allowed to take the high school entrance examination in a detention center while awaiting trial.

The 15-year-old surnamed Lin was supervised by two police officers as he took the exam in a psychological counseling room of the jail in Chengdu city, Southwest China's Sichuan province on June 13, 2012.

Lin, who is suspected of robbing a number of minors was sent to the detention center on March 15, asked if he could sit the high school entrance exam. His request was approved by the local education department, police bureau and procuratorate.

It is believed to be the first time someone has taken the entrance exam in a detention center in Chengdu city.

No trial date has been set for the offences as the police are still conducting their investigation.
