Nearly 20,000 Chinese enterprises have operated overseas investments in over 178 countries and regions around the world. Chinese capital is becoming a shining star in the global investment market, China.com.cn reported Thursday, citing the Ministry of Commerce (MOC).
According to the estimate by the MOC, China's outbound direct investment will reach $150 billion by 2015.
The ministry also stated that, on one hand, Chinese enterprises should explore economic growth by making full use of domestic and international markets. On the other hand, harmonious integration into the local society to better fulfill social responsibility and win the trust and support of local governments are urgent tasks for Chinese enterprises' overseas sustainable development.
Chen Runyun, commercial counselor for the MOC's department of outward investment and economic cooperation, said that many Chinese enterprises have won the trust of local societies by combining business management with local social development.
In Bangladesh, a Chinese private-owned clothing enterprise has hired 8,000 locals and only 10 Chinese employees. The company also built a mosque in the business' surroundings to meet the religious requirements of local residents, Chen said.
Zhang Guoqing, deputy director of the Policy Research Department of MOC, also noted that, every overseas company is a carrier and a messenger on behalf of culture. Chinese enterprises should learn lessons from internationally famous multinational companies by expanding the market as well as disseminate cultural values.
