Xiaoguan offers a red banner to thank staff at an emergency center in Beijing on May 9 for saving his life. The 33-year-old Beijinger has suffered chronic obesity since he was young and now weighs 250 kilograms. He was struck by heart failure on April 15 and it took more than three hours for the paramedics and several firefighters to transfer him to hospital.
